Enhancing Youth Engagement in Human Rights, Justice and Electoral Participation

UNDP-Somalia | November 2019 – 30 April 2020 DRDO–Somalia implemented the Low-Value Grant “Enhancing Youth Engagement in Human Rights, Justice and Electoral Issues”, funded by UNDP-Somalia, to strengthen young people’s awareness, participation, and capacity in human rights, justice, and electoral processes. The initiative reflected DRDO’s broader commitment to working with government institutions, communities, and traditional leaders to promote inclusive and accountable governance, access to justice, respect for human rights, and peaceful and cohesive communities.

Youth Civic and Human Rights Engagement: Mobilized young people to understand and advocate for their human rights and civic responsibilities. Electoral Participation: Promoted youth awareness and meaningful participation in electoral processes and democratic decision-making. Access to Justice: Increased awareness of justice mechanisms, particularly the rights of accused and imprisoned persons in accordance with national law and international standards
